企者不立﹔跨者不行﹔自見者不明﹔自是者不彰﹔自伐者無功﹔自矜者不 長。
其在道也,
曰:餘食贅形。
物或惡之,
故有道者不處。

yuē yú shí zhuì xíng
wù huò è zhī
gù yŏu dào zhĕ bù chŭ

He who stands on tiptoe
doesn't stand firm.
He who rushes ahead
doesn't go far.
He who tries to shine
dims his own light.
He who defines himself
can't know who he really is.
He who has power over others
can't empower himself.
He who clings to his work
will create nothing that endures.

If you want to accord with the Tao,
just do your job, then let go.
